The Pac Project
The Pac Project began as a passionate dream to revolutionize the Lineage II experience. Back in 2012, I had an ambitious idea and went searching for a developer to help bring it to life. Fate led me to Jstar, the brilliant mind behind the unique Lineage II Echokinetics faction server—a PvP-oriented server that I had not only played but found to be one of the most thrilling experiences in the community.
My enthusiasm and unwavering passion convinced Jstar to embark on this journey with me. He built the alpha version using his Freya server files. However, it took about nine months before I received the build, and by then, he was understandably burnt out and chose not to continue. He preferred to focus on coding rather than launching another project.
Determined to see my vision through, I connected with Vampir, an 18-year-old self-taught developer from Poland. His expertise came from hands-on experience with Lineage II Java server files. Together, we worked tirelessly, and within a month, we prepared the project for launch.
On October 27, 2012, we officially launched—right when Hurricane Sandy made landfall. Our server was located in upstate New York, about 80 miles north of NYC, directly in the storm's path. Despite this setback, the launch was a success, and the server thrived for three memorable months.
Unfortunately, challenges arose when a team member named Drastik (aka LeafThePro), who had provided our website files, began exhibiting toxic behavior towards the player base. Upon deciding to remove him from the staff, he retaliated by wiping the database, likely exploiting vulnerabilities in the insecure website he had supplied.
Fast forward 12 years, I've earned a Bachelor's in Cloud Computing and a Master's in Cybersecurity. With the advancements in AI and the help of technologies like O1-preview and Claude 3.5 Sonnet, I have rebuilt and redeployed my once-destroyed project.
Lineage Squared now stands stronger than ever—a testament to resilience, innovation, and the unyielding spirit of the gaming community. I'm excited to share this journey with both old veterans and new adventurers alike.
